Incontinence and Anti-Inflammatory Attributest

Research shows that pectin helps manage or prevent some types of incontinence.
A study featured in the June 2009 issue of the Journal of Pediatric Surgery suggests pectin is an effective part of a management program to control fecal incontinence. Women require 21 to 25g of fiber, including pectin, each day, and men need 30 to 38g of pectin fiber daily.I
Reducing inflammation in the body is important, especially when it comes to inflammation's role in tumor formation. Carcinogens cause the initial DNA mutations, and then oxidation, inflammation and hormones cause it to grow, and finally, metastasis occurs, in which the cancer spreads throughout the body. The pectin in apples helps to combat all three phases of tumor growth, suggesting that pectin may also enhance the immune system to help clear out any budding tumors before they start.II

Pectin reduces inflammation associated with bowel disease by reducing
the production of pro-inflammatory antibodies.
